Greatest Album(s) of 2010


I had a friend on facebook ask, "what was the best album of 2010?" For me it was a toss up between two albums. Brandon Flowers - Flamingo and My Chemical Romance - Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.

At first I went with My Chemical Romance. Their album is epic. Every song on this album feels larger than life. It's telling a story from one song to the next while still allowing each song to still be its own. I knew I was going to love this album when I saw the video for "Na Na Na." It's like they have meshed Mad Max with Family Force 5 and some old home movies. I love it.



Then after I gave my answer of My Chemical Romance having the greatest album of 2010, I spent the week driving around listening to Brandon Flowers - Flamingo and remembered how amazing this album was. There are so many musical influences and you can really understand the ups and downs of Brandon Flowers' life. The difference from this album and My Chemical Romance is that MCR wrote their album with their minds, while Brandon Flowers' album is from the heart. He sings about his hometown, faith, friendship, and even a song about The Killers and their growth into maturity as a band (at least that is what I believe the song "Swallow It" is all about). So then I switched my vote to Brandon Flowers - Flamingo.



I would also like to point out that my friend who asked about the greatest album of 2010 said that his favorite album was Monitor by Titus Andronicus. I've tried listening to it but I just don't get it. Nevertheless, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. And my opinion is that Brandon Flowers and My Chemical Romance produced two of the greatest albums I have ever heard this year. So because of that they are co-winners of the Greatest Album of 2010.

I have been writing this blog for 10 years now. It started with a friend of mine back in 2010 posting the question on Facebook asking what we thought was the album of the year. 2019 Album of the Year

Once again it's time for my Album of the Year post. I know you are all excited. I can feel the anticipation. It's thick in the air like some kind of chowder that has been left out in the sun for too long. Gross! What was I talking about? Oh yeah! The 2019 Album of the Year! Below are seven albums I think you should know about from this past year. They are in order of which they were released. 2018 Album of the Year

Wow! It's been eight years that I have been doing this. I'm not sure if anyone actually reads these blogs. I keep hoping that one of these "album of the year" winners will actually see that one fan out here believes their album was the best album that year.
